What’s going on in the world from a Security Coordinator’s perspective:
Security News of the Day:
Taking Victory too seriously…”At least 2 dead in violence after France World Cup victory.”
International: Hundreds of thousands of expatriates have been leaving Saudi Arabia as the economy stagnates and the authorities impose more fees on foreign workers.
USA: Wait…what? “MGM sues Vegas shooting victims in push to avoid liability. MGM Resorts International has sued hundreds of victims of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history in a bid to avoid liability for the gunfire that rained down from its Mandalay Bay casino-resort in Las Vegas.
The winner of the World Cup of Travel: Spain, not France.
Taxi2Airport.com, which helps travelers get to and from the airport or station in more than 130 countries, ran its own tournament using the same complicated process as the World Cup.
Rather than competing on soccer abilities, the qualifying countries scored points based on their travel appeal. The factors taken into consideration were: weather, cost, food, culture, nightlife, nature and beaches, and shopping.
The 32 qualifying teams were split into eight groups.
And the winner is: Spain.
