The Cooperative School in Tunis is putting all of its employees at extreme risk by telling them to stay in Tunisia. Tunisia is a very unsafe place for Americans and most ” Westerners” due to the political and religious climate in North Africa and Midddle East right now. I will attach the U.S. Embassy Tunis emergency message for U.S. citizens posted on Sept. 15, 2012, below. The school will be held responsible for any harm or threats of harm to its employees.
The U.S. Embassy in Tunis is closed and is not taking emails, due to its closure. It cannot give help or advice to U.S. citizens that are in Tunis or are in the U.S. and worried about family members in Tunis.
Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens – Departure of U.S. government personnel

The U.S. Embassy alerts all U.S. citizens that the Department of State has ordered the departure of all non-emergency U.S. government personnel from Tunisia following the attack on the U.S. Embassy. The airport in Tunis is open and U.S. citizens are encouraged to depart by commercial air.
U.S. citizens remaining in Tunisia should use caution and avoid demonstrations, make their own contingency emergency plans, enroll their presence in Tunisia through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), and provide their current contact information and next-of-kin or emergency contact information.
U.S. citizens should remain cautious and avoid areas where large gatherings may occur. Even demonstrations or events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. U.S. citizens in Tunisia are urged to monitor local news reports and to plan their activities accordingly. U.S. citizens should review the current Country Specific Information for Tunisia.
For the latest security information, U.S. citizens living and traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs Internet website, where the current Worldwide Caution, Travel Warnings, Travel Alerts and Country Specific Information can be found.
In addition, the Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to review “A Safe Trip Abroad,” which includes valuable security information for those traveling or living in foreign countries.
